Saying goodbye

December 4th, 2008

Finally, the last post from Azores, I promise :) Here are some panoramas that were taken on different dates. They came as last on this blog, as they had to be stitched together from a lot of pictures (one of them is made out of 27 pictures :]).

Biscoitos and whale watching

November 18th, 2008

So, as my vacation on the island was coming to an end and the weather was splendid, I really couldn’t help myself not to rent a scooter and go on one of the most memorable beaches I have ever seen. As if the lava formation of the beach wasn’t enough, there were waves … and I mean BIG WAVES smashing against the rocks.

And since there was enough time, we scheduled for whale watching. However, unfortunately there weren’t any whales, only dolphins (don’t get me wrong, they were fun) and Goat islands.

Bullfight

November 10th, 2008

As promised, here are some more photos. This is from the day that me and my brother went to “Bullfighting on a rope” or with more words: “five men holding a long rope that is tethered to the bull”. We walked to the Porto Judeo and on the way there stopped by the see.

In Porto Judeo the mood was very festive as all generations were outside, either participating or just looking how the others tease and run away from the bull. Me and my brother were first observers and later participants, as I wanted to take better pictures of the bull in action. However (as you might have already suspected), our good intention resulted in us running and not knowing how far away the bull is :D

Angra do Heroísmo

November 8th, 2008

It is somewhat strange to be posting these images when I am not there any more, but I still have some pictures left to post … for at least a couple of posts :)

Evening ocean

October 29th, 2008

As we went to one of the fortresses (not the one from the other day), I saw a nice contrast between black rocks and almost white splashes from the sea hitting the rocks.

Supersonic

October 28th, 2008

As one of my favorite bands (Oasis) says in their song Supersonic: “I’m feeling supersonic”
